Barry Lawson served as project manager for the development of an atlas for the Connecticut River Watershed in New Hampshire and Vermont. This project consisted of three dozen chapters, covering topics as diverse as physical geography, ecosystems, river and water resources, history, transportation, current patterns of development and cultural resources. Each section is authored by an expert in that topic and the atlas is vividly illustrated with maps, images and charts and accompanied for references for further study.
The project was a joint venture of the Connecticut River Joint Commissions, Dartmouth College and Northern Cartographic. It was funded by a host of agencies, several foundations, and businesses in the watershed and by an annual appropriation from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. The atlas was published by University Press of New England in 2009.
