Although this project was undertaken by Barry Lawson Associates a few years back, we still get many questions about the project itself and our role.  For over two decades, the U.S. government has been investigating the feasibility and environmental impact of this site northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada for the long-term storage of high-level nuclear waste from the nation’s nuclear power plants.  As part of the overall project, the Office of Nuclear Waste Safety of the Department of Energy conducted an extensive environmental impact study of the Yucca Mountain Project.

The results of this study became the topic for a set of 28 national meetings for which Lawson Associates served as moderator.  Holmes Brown (a subcontractor) and Barry Lawson were the moderators for these important and controversial meetings.  Our prime contractor was TRW.  For more information on the Yucca Mountain Project, please CLICK HERE.
